Electromagnetic Launch System

(Redirected from ELS)
The ELS (abbr. Electromagnetic Launch System) are high-powered electro-magnetic missile tubes, which accelerate offensive and defensive loads into space. The ELS is necessary to allow for a safe distance between a missile and the originating starship when the missile activates its organic acceleration capability.
They work by the principles of the Gauss cannon, which say that electromagnets, in series connected, are able to acclerate a bullet theoretically, but not necessary, to ultrasonic.
