A High Guard research vessel, the Long March was presumed destroyed after failing to report in after a survey mission in the Luwian Cluster and an extensive search found nothing. Ships that took part included the Andromeda Ascendant. The Long March was responsible for first contact with nine sentient races that would eventually join the Commonwealth, as well as protecting undeveloped and pre-industrial worlds from pirates, rogue miners, and unauthorized colonists. Members of the Long March's crew were popular speakers at schools and environmental groups.
