Castalia is settled by humans genetically engineered to breath water, with air breathers living on the islands and space-designed human variants living in numerous orbital habitats.
Castalia was a major population center during the Commonwealth era. After the Commonwealth's fall, Castalia was enslaved by Nietzscheans of the Voslung Pride. The brutal occupation lasted over 200 years and ended 10070 CY with a successful revolt that culminated in the destruction of the Volsung orbital habitat and the death of its 75,000 inhabitants (Nietzscheans and human slaves).
More recently, the Castalian Republic became the second government to sign the charter for a restored Systems Commonwealth. The erasement of the Voslung Pride became the object of ciminal prosecution but was ceased: President Sebastian Lee who was responsible to the killing of the Nietzscheans was already assassinated.
Trivia
- Castalia, in Greek mythology Greek was a nymph whom Apollo transformed into a fountain at Delphi, at the base of Mt. Parnassos, or at Mt. Helicon. Castalia could inspire the genius of poetry to those who drank her waters or listened to their quiet sound; the sacred water was also used to clean the Delphian temples. Apollo consecrated Castalia to the Muses (Castaliae Musae). (Wikipedia) &
