Founded approximately a decade after the Battle of Witchhead, the Free Trade Alliance is a conglomerate of various corporate interests that seek to promote stability for commercial reasons. Its sole purpose is to create wealth, regardless of the circumstances. The FTA's military arm is completely composed of mercenaries, who fight against pirates, terrorists such as the Restorian Movement, and anyone else who disturbs the peace. Despite the stability the FTA provides, there exists a massive economical and social divide amongst populations living under their jurisdiction. The wealthy continue to gain more wealth at the expense of the poor and entire ecosystems have been devastated thanks to FTA policy.
