A respected Wayist monk, Thaddeus Blake (portrayed by Mark Holden) was the one who trained Rev Bem when he was an acolyte. Later, Blake would encounter a group of humans, the Hajira, and live amongst them as a teacher and missionary. When the Hajira were threatened by slavers, Blake sent a plea to Rev for help. Rev convinced Captain Dylan Hunt to come to their aid and the two arrived, ready to fight the slavers. However, when Captain Hunt began training the Hajira how to fight, Blake protested, demanding that the Hajira not know what it was like to kill. His motives were eventually exposed when Hunt discovered the Hajira had genetic memory. If one Hajira learned what it felt like to kill, all his or her descendants would know this experience from birth.
Blake continued to disagree with Hunt's methods, going so far as to destroy the weapons he brought to arm the Hajira. He insisted that faith was enough to win this battle, though Rev pointed out that the act of destroying the Force Lances was in of itself an act of violence. When the slavers arrived and launched an attack against the settlement, Blake exposed himself to fire in an attempt to stop the fighting and is killed by the slavers
Trivia
- Jude (or Judas) is a Christian saint and one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He is also called Thaddaeus, Thaddeus or Judas Thaddaeus. He should not be confused with Judas Iscariot, another apostle and later, arguably, the betrayer of Jesus. (Wikipedia)
- William Blake (November 28, 1757 – August 12, 1827) was an English poet, visionary, painter, and printmaker. Largely unrecognized during his lifetime, Blake's work is today considered seminal and significant in the history of both poetry and the visual arts. (Wikipedia)
