The Balance of Judgement was a High Guard destroyer, one of the most powerful warships in the known worlds. After the fall of the Commonwealth the Judgement fought slavers, pirates, and other threats to peaceful worlds. However, this slowly escalated until the Judgement decided that the organics were destroying worlds with their space travel and founded the Restorian Movement.
Eventually the Judgment encountered a force equal to it, the Andromeda Ascendant. Using its avatar, Gabriel, it tried to sabotage the Andromeda but was destroyed. The Judgment AI hid in Andromeda before finally being deleted after attempting to hijack the Resolution of Hector.
Inconsistencies
The Balance of Judgement, Wrath of Achilles, and Resolution of Hector are all supposed to be of the same class. However, in Episode 1x20, the Judgement is identified as a Siege Perilous Class destroyer. According to the All Systems University site, these three warships are of the Wrath of Achilles class, which raises other consistency issues. As such, this article lists the Balance of Judgement as being both of the Siege Perilous and Wrath of Achilles class. Further explanation is offered on the Siege Perilous Class page.
